So my fan ripped apart the rad today. I'm getting that fixed but I'm wondering if anyone with a chev350 has advice for the fan mount.

Its a silver/metal piece attached to the water pump and about an inch or so in width. Unfortunately I cannot get my thin fan to fit between it and the radiator. I'd like to get rid of the motor fan.

Ill post pics asap. Its in the 4runner so space is tight

are you talking about a spacer for the fan ? They come in all kinds of thickness. Is your fan a flex fan ? They are famous for gutting radiators. Just watch how the thing flexes ot flat as your rpm increases. They will even reach forward and if you run it under water then it turns into a propeller and drawis itself right into the radiator :booo:

oh man.. yup its a flex-fan. I'm still trying to figure out how it managed to rip my rad apart when my driveline dropped.

Do you know how to take off that spacer? I'm thinking if I can find a really small spacer, it might leave enough room so I can mount my electric fan on.

Pics would be helpful but the spacer just goes between the waterpump and the fan. Once you take the four bolts out of the fan the spacer should fall of (may need a tap) If your going to electric then just use 1/2" bolts to bolt the pully back onto the waterpump.

just snapped some here:

so I can spin the metal piece, but it doesn't seem to wanna come out. I'm going to try to work with it tomorrow to get it out though.
