How do you tell the krawler tires apart ? I just bought a brand new set of 39 Red labels ( Comp Tires ) ( Stickies ) or what ever you prefer to call them . Is there any special markings or writing on the tires to tell the difference between the Red labels and all other Bfg Krawlers . My main concern with these is that the treads are hard as a rock , now i have never touched another set of these be for and it is 15 Deg out side . Shouldnt the treads be soft enough to twist .. Just wanting to know if i got ripped on these ?

Whose name is on the inside of the tires. There should be two stickers on the inside of the tires with an initial and last name.

the blue labels have the DOT stamp and the red labels dont. ....right :dunno:

but I have never seen a set of 39 DOT krawlers, like John said. they only make reds in 39's

They don't make blue label Krawlers in a 39, so you got the real deals. You would only have to worry about that with 37's. The tread is not softer to the touch per say, but you should be able to take the lugs and move them pretty easily with your hand. If it has a shipping label on them there should be a tire label also.

They don't make "blue" 39.5's unless you got an ultimate adventure produciton set.. and there should't be many New sets of them lyin around..

Reds have "not for highway use" on the side.. And no, the lugs are no Softer of flexible to the touch...

They don't make any Krawler in a 39.5 or a 40 for that matter. Reds are 39x13.50 for 17" rim. They made some blue labels in 39 for the UA 3+ years ago, now they just run the KM2. Keith Bailey has a set on his brown jeep, but they only made enough sets for those vehicles and you don't have those.

The biggest thing to look for when getting a set of reds is that you get the FULL tread pattern. They make a half tread pattern for concrete courses. They are basically brand new tires that have less than 1/2" of tread. You don't have them from your pic, it is easy to tell with half treads

OK .. thanks for all the info .. I really appreciate it . I feel a lot better about these now . They say ( Not for highway use ) on the sides and the tread is 1 1/2 deep .

Cole - There is no name , initial or sticker on the inside of any of the tires .

The stickers are really small. They will have the first initial and last name of the person that built them. Although not all builders put their stickers in there especially if they know they built a shitty tire. ;D

That's pretty funny .. As long as they work i don't care ho shitty they are .. thumb.gif

I just looked again , and there was one tiny little 3/4 x 3/4 white sticker inside on the side wall close to were the rim mounts . All it had was two rows of numbers .

Kind of side topic but I have a buddy in Dallas that has two of the 39 blue labels we guess from the UA production run. He bought them off the net as "new 39 Krawlers" thinking they were Reds, because most people will tell you "they only make them in stickies".

Our group now uses them as spares. As far as I kow they are still brand new with the stickers on them. US DOT number and all on them.
