ok so i was recently given an 89 blzer with a TBI 4.3, seams to run fine, drive fine, some lady up and left it at my work when she couldn't pay the bill on it. this was years before i started working there, i guess she has passed away and my boss has no title, so basically the rig is worthless to him, that and the fact that he moves pretty slow these days( turned 83 last week):awesomework:, i will be lucky to still be walking when i am 70 considering all the back problems i have had, i just don't no how he does it... anyways :haha: ignore my rambling

but i am having trouble finding info on it, as far as what i need/ don't need from the donor/wiring harness ex.. what sensors i can do away with/what trans will bolt up to it...

wanting a th 350 if i don't have to spend a ton of cash on a bell housing to adapt the two

i have searched most of the thread pertaining to 4.3's on NWW and most of them are about the newer model vortecs cpi, cspi but have yet to find much info about the TBI's a few tidbits here and there but no real solid info

so a link or some info from some of those that have swapped one of these engine into there car would be greatly appriciated:beer:

you can run a th350, th400, sm465--basicly any tranny that will bolt up to a SB350.

As for donor stuff--all you need out of the rig. In the rig, ecm and harness along with the aldl plug. I can't remember if that has a speedo converter (damn mind is going blank) if it does it will be bolted to the ecm.

Under the hood just the harness for the motor...

Those are pretty simple...

mike what is an aldl plug? and what is a speedo converter exactly i can imagine what it would do... convert mechanical sensing to electric? or something along those lines... and what sensors does this motor have that i shouldn't need?

can i completely remove the egr/emissions system?

sounds relatively simple enough... maybe all i need is a wiring diagram to figure out what to cut out

i have no harness' in my used to be 4cyl efi toy and i read somewere that you were running a toy desiel rad? my bro has two 2.4 non turbo desiels but i am sure that rad is the same as my 22re one? though i haven't really looked at it to verify this, it's just a guess simple on the fact that they are both small engine so i don't see how it could have a bigger rad... and from what i read a 4cyl rad won't keep it cool enough..

is the aldl plug some sort of data link plug... i did notice one under the dash on the drivers side.... so what would that be considered.. i no for sure it's not obd 2 i wouldn't even think it is obd 1...:eeek:

The aldl is the plug used to cummunicate with the ecm (also known a dlc).

The converter is a ratio/digital converter (called a DRAQ). But if you don't run a speedo like me I would not worry about it. You can also plug the EGR off.

On the motor you will need the knock sensor and I can't remember is the ESC module is seperate or incorpurated into the ecm in 89 (I believe it is).

Yes I am running a rad out of a diesel--bolts right up to the stock holes but the necks are on the same side so I had to have the upper moved to the other side of the rad.

Yes--driver side onder the dash (on kick panel)--yes data link plug--and its OBD I
