Alrighty boys and gurls...

I have an '82 Yota with a 22r, W56 and dual cases and am looking to swap it out for some more power and FI. I recently got my hands on a '99 Blazer with a 4.3 and an auto tranny. What do I need to strip out of this truck to make it work? This will be my first swap of this kind and don't know where to start.

I know a lot of people on here have done this swap in Jeeps and Yota's alike so any info is helpful. I've done plenty of searching and reading both here and PBB.

Thanks,
Charlie

Is the Toy truck gona be street legal or not? I would for sure take the motor, engine wire harness, computer... but I think I would go with a TH350 if thats not what is behind it already?? Your right as to there are a lot of guys on here that know lots about this... way more then I.

I have done the same swap keep the motor trans computer o2s if you want and harness call Trevor at s&n he did my wiring and i have never had a problem he thinned it out and used it with the Toyota harness . If you want to run the Toyota t-case downey has the adapter and the out put shaft , use north west offroads motor mounts or make your own do not use any other mounts they suck and Sanderson headers work good
Oh ya if the motor has been siting for a real long time you might have problems with the injectors. :awesomework:

Yep, this is what I did for my buggy accept for Im running a Atlas. Trevor is the king, he does the weeding of the wires for about $300. Im not a Toy guy but this motor is what I used along with the Sanderson's, O2s, and Harness. The computer on the other hand wont work. You will need to find a '96 or '97 only unless you want to send it back East to get reflashed $$$$. Find one on ebay for around $50. The reason for this is that the new Chevys have a cut out in the computer that wont let you start it unless you are useing the factory ignition and key. We all run push button starts so there is no need for that stuff. I would give Trevor a call down at S&N.

I have done a number of 4.3 swaps and the SCPI is the hardest as far as wiring goes. And yes sandersons are by far the best header available for the 4.3 (2 flavors, plain and ceramic coated)

I haven't much as far as wiring but im not scared to dive into it. It's doable though rite?

S&N the way to go as far as stripping the wiring?

There are a few others out there who can do it :redneck:

Its doable as long as you aint scared of it,lol. But its the most complex of all the 4.3's (TBI,CPI,SCPI)

Not really scared. If I screw it up too bad I'll just throw my good ol' 22r and W56 back in it! Who would you suggest using?

I've been thinking about going to lazy mans route and keeping the auto tranny thats behind it in there. I'm hard on clutches as it is right now and don't want to be dumping money into that all of the time. I've done some research and it looks like I have a 4L60E behind the 4.3... Does that sound right?

Is it necessary to find a computer from a 96-7 rig to get this thing running? What are the diffences between the two ECU's?

I highly recommend getting the complete FSM wiring diagrams for the donor vehicle- it will take a lot of the mystery out of it. :awesomework:

Using the 6 pages of diagrams in the Chilton/Haynes manuals will only lead to frustration and confusion.

Already planned on tracking down the wiring diagram from the Chevy. Was planning on Chiltons but I'll go another route.

Thanks,
Charlie

Whats a FSM :eeek: Factoty service Manual or such:eeek:

Yep sorry. FSM= Factory Service Manual.

They are accurate and spell everything out in detail,
the wiring diagrams is like 190 pages instead of 10 or 12.
