IMO the 4.3 would be cheaper. I just did a 3.4 swap in my toyota but it already had a toyota 3.0 V6 so it was easy. Yours having a 4cyl. would make the 3.4 swap harder. A good 3.4 with all the stuff you need is at least $1500 I think you can get good 4.3s for under $800 You might think about a toyota 2.7 from a tacoma. Thats a pretty easy swap into your rig.
