400 TRANNY

JUST WONDERING IF THERES ANY WAY TO STOP A 400 FROM SHIFTING INTO 2ND ON ITS ON ,THINKING ABOUT A GLIDE IF ITS NOT FIXABLE.

Why don't you just put a Manual Valvle body in it?

Manual valve body will let you shift it like a manual without the clutch. You can also start in any gear you want

Shift kit, it will shift on its on through the forward gears or you can pull it down to first and it will hold the gear.

joel ill give ya a call tomarrow done got late ,as for every thing else dont really care what it takes just want it to shift at MY camand what ever it takes ,never run a 400 most of my stuff has been 4 speed ., i shift when by ear , dont like the tranny to decide.

ive read that u can put a pontiac 400 valve body on a chevy 400 and it will shift like a 350 if i get time ill find the info again

My 400 was built so if you put it in 1st it holds 1st. If you put it in 2nd it will start in 1st and shift to 2nd. If you put it in 3rd (drive) it will shift all 3. I didn't want a manual valve body because I didn't want to be shifting all the time. I like the current setup a lot.
