Went down to Astoria to explore a bit over the weekend...

We did a lot of things in a short time, We hiked the Fort to Sea Trail sunday morning before we came back home, fun/different hike for sure! No pics though, camera battery died.:booo:But here are pics that we DID get.:awesomework:

On our way over from Portland, we visited my Grandpa who had triple bypass surgery the day or two before, they said he has the lungs of a 50 year old. He's 87.

On our way back up I-5 we ran into a weird traffic blockage. We got turned around an exit up and there were a dozen cop cars surrounding a field one guy with what looked like a grenade launcher, not sure what was going on....:eeek:

But we did see this.

We paid $4 each to have a guided history tour that went underground into the lower depths of the fort! This is Veldon showing us his 6" gun. Very cool guide.

This is a tray to raise and lower ammo for the 6" Guns... These reminded me more of things I saw in Germany....:booo:

The Flag has only 48 stars. and is period correct.

Alaska and Hawaii were not yet states at that time.

Road trips with your old lady are always fun :haha:

moved out of Gnat creek Dec 1996 to Sultan. Dam State of OR closed the Hatchery.
