4x4rockshop and my reply to the strap thread

Fellas-
If I over stepped I apologize. Honest, I'm not a REAL asshole, I just play one online.
I think the strap deal is bad ass. I think its exceptionally cool, and the fact that we easily got an order together. Props!

Maybe someone pissed in my Wheaties this morning, but I have a thorn in my side about being exploited.
The guy at 4x4rockshop is just trying to do some business and earn a little coin. I dont have a problem with that. But trying to do that for nothing, like we here can and will provide a free handout is BS.

Prior to Matt and the Hardline Crawlers club selling their shirts, I was the sole group seller of items on this board, so I speak from experience. I laid out all of my hard earned green, made the orders, awaited everyones payment (some FAST, some that never came) once the items showed up and I had the payment, I packaged each and everyone, and hauled my ass to the P.O. many many many times to get the product out to you guys. So I know what it takes to do. 4x4rockshop trying to peddle his wares and get someone to do what I was doing for nothing is BS. I made money on the shirts that is no lie. It was marginal, but I made money none the less. But I put in the work.

Sometimes you can get something for nothing, but my opion is this isn't one of those times for 4x4rockshop. I am a bit worked up about this, but have not pulled my order.
I just believe if you are willing to accept profit you damn well had better deserve it, and by deserve I mean work.

Rant off. If I stepped on any toes, or whatever, I apologize, you guys see my view here and in the Strap thread.

I agree with you. He should do the collecting for us, and shipping to those that want it. I am not asking for anything for free. Simply hit my card and deliver the goods. It is what businesses do every hour of every day. ???

I have never enjoyed dealing with Mike and I avoided the thread for that reason. I think it is stupid that he wants one person to pay and distribute the goods. I don't get it

I hadn't been back to that thread, so I was unaware of this. what a load of crap. Hey paul, you got the money to front this, right :

Have him take the cards, or fawk off. shipping I could see charging more for (duh), but give the option to get them from paul or someone the next time we're down. whatever.

This is why I avoid this style group buy. I think it's too much a cluster **** to try and give 1 guy the money wait on every other persons then get **** 3 months later>>>been there done that. Love the way y'all are doing shirts tho that's great, but doing things this style just creates cluster IMO.. I know P and Mike were just tryin to get somethin cool going for the site and P's frontin his time so no reason peeps should bail on that end, if it were me it wouldn't be worth the trouble tho 8)

How do you think the shirts and hoodies get done around here? Its effectively a group buy with the way we do a Pre-Order. Not like we have the shirts on the shelf.
This just went down all wrong. That guy thought Paul was picking it up, and no one else remotely thought this guy "Mike" was passing the buck.

I still think its a good deal if it can get done.

The only problems I've ever had was people not paying or paying wayyyy late, and selling **** and messing up my order to the vendor. My shirt vendor has a flawless record but thats not the norm.

If it weren't 4 weeks before racing, I'd front it and do the work, but not for free. Sorry guys, time is time. I love you all but gimme something to feel loved.

On the hoodie order, I paid myself in 2 hoodies, everything else went to Paul for the Dirty 30 build. There was enough to cover a tire as I recall. If I were in Bama I'd been putting in work on it with him. But since I'm 10 hours away I did what i could. Sell stuff to earn dough to pay for parts. Seems logical.

My opinion is that if Mike wants the business, and the profit he should do the leg work. I'll pay, I'm a man of my word, I ordered and I want the damn sling. But hassle, no thanks.

So this should be pushed back on the vendor.

Is this the same 4x4rockshop out of B'ham? I hope that he's not getting the same straps that we purchased for the shop here to sale. WE had our Logo put on them and it looked like they were spray painted on with a stencil or something. We thought we were getting embroidered straps. Later.

Yes, I saw the workbench. No 4x4 stuff on it, so I call bullshit. Nan walked by bout the time i got to the last pic. She didn't see the workbench at first either. Then had to explain the whole 35% thing. molaugh

Knowing and workin with / for him the short time I did. He isnt really interested in pleasing everyone and doesnt have any interest in dealing with folks like us that wheel and deal hard. He would rather gobble up quick sales of bolt on stuff from Jeep only people.

He like to keep to the specific things he knows. Easy interweb sales off his website.

Rockshop isnt his bread and butter... just the butter.

He only puts in what he gets out.

... to add that is why I posted up a total. He wants paid and done with it, he needs to put in the effort to tell us what paid and done is.

I know he saw my reply, and he even sent me a msg on myspace about you going off on him.

is what it said, thats when I noticed your post. You both have valid points I see both sides of the fence , group purchases are a PITA for everyone IMO
