So to get one thing out in the open, I am a retard when it comes to wiring...

Now here is the situation.. I am installing an injected 5.0 from a 91 Tbird in my 68 Cougar. I ****ed up the harness that I pulled out of the Tbird, so I kept the engine / injector harness, and purchased the Ford Motorsports Racing main harness..., and I also was told I needed the distributor with the hard mounted module (TFI???) so I bought that. So now I sit an look at this thing, and have no idea where to start, it seems as if there is a bunch of **** that I don't need (egr stuff, fuel pump relays, etc...) and some **** that I need that I don't see... like something to plug into my distributor ???

What am I missing?

Should I send the FMS harness back, throw the injector harness away, and just buy a complete harness from Painless or something similiar?

call Crash he likes wires...you will need the fuel pump relays. seriously call crash

I wasn't going to use the fuel pump stuff... I bought the Painless fuel pump relay / wiring kit to use instead... I was trying to make things as easy as possible, but obviously that didn't work out for me...

Help a brother out here... what am I missing, doing wrong, etc... ???? I was always told that 5.0 wiring was the easiest to work with, but as I can **** up wiring in a CB, this is pretty complicated!!!!

How had you planned on runngin t eh fuel pump? toggle or ignition feed control? I am not familure with the Ford Motorsports Racing main harness and not even sure how they are setup.

The fuel pump relay is controlled by the (factory) computer...:rb:

I get rid of that **** and put it in with the ignition toggle/switch.

its the easiest as in there are only three wires that connect to your vehicle to power the system....if you had the engine harness and ecu harness intact its pretty easy.

I have the engine/injector harness...

I also have the FMA harness, which appears to be a STOCK wiring harness from a Mustang or something.

I plan on running the fuel pump off of the ignition with the Painless wiring harness and relay setup...

This is the harness that I bought to go from the computer to the engine harness...

and this is the fuel pump wiring that I bought...

So I think I am still missing something that plugs into my distributor???? I am not finding anything on the engine harness, or on the main harness???

Oh, and this is the kit I ordered for the hi pressure fuel system, and I have an E2000 pump.

Doesn't the 5.0 run on fairly high fuel pressure like 60 or 70 lbs? IIRC the E2000 pump is only good for like 20 lbs....

I don't know 5.0 stuff but it sounds like you may have a harness set up for a fuel only application that doesn't control the timing...
You need to talk to Jobless, I hear he works for espresso:haha:

The 5.0 is supposed to have a constant 40lbs or so, I think the stock fuel pressure regulator is around 39lbs. The E2000 I have is 95psi max, and around 50psi constant.

the 5.0 requires 40 psi above vacuum, the regulator will bypass excess to return.

the engine harness should have the tpi (ingnition) plug on it.

sounds like you have spent enough money to make it run...

...26 page instruction booklet included with harness.

I'd start there:fawkdancesmiley:

If I could figure out how to read the book they sent that would be like a day at the county fair...
I am so wiring retarded that I look at their wiring diagrams and they may as well be written in sandscript

Painless wiring is a contradiction in terms. :haha:
