My brother used to have a 2wd 2003 Tahoe, all stock, 5.3L, 3.55 rear end.  That thing flat-out could get it, was very fun to drive.  Of course it had the 4l60 trans.

Then I test drove a 4wd 2010 6.0 Sierra 2500 with the 6L80.  I think it had a 3.73 rear and it was so weak that it was almost unbearable to drive.  It couldn't get out of its own way.

I recently bought my wife a 2013 5.3 Tahoe with the 6l80, 3.55 and its weak as ****, too.  I mean, its fine for her, but you stomp the gas and its nothing like my brother's old Tahoe.  Total weak sauce.

Of course I have an LS2 in my buggy and it fricken smokes the tires when I want it to.  But I don't think I can compare my buggy to the above.

So is the 6L80 just a power hog?  The way that all the west coast racers talk about it its the be-all and end-all of transmissions.
