I had a 94 chev 2500 w a 5.7 and an r4 with a SF 14 bolt and I pulled a 38' fifth wheel and a jeep on a towbar behind it about 10,000 miles over a 2 year span... Spent most of those miles at or near WOT... Munched a tranny once but never had any issues with the SF...I'd say don't worry about swapping the axle, just make sure it stays full of good clean oil.
