JR has found me a couple 6.0 's and before buying one I wanted to get some input on what is involved in getting some power our of one and what it might cost me.

He has found one with the iron block aluminum head combo. I know I will have to get the computer flashed by Jim's preformance and get the harness cut down but what about a cam - what sort of cam is recommended. Anything else that can be done to get one to put out out a little??

I talked to Jimmy about these motors a while back, and he said a hot cam does wonders for them. Not sure on the specs or brand, but ask him what he recommends

I use fuel injection specialties. The harnesses are extremely nice and all new built to your specs no charge for diff injectors, tb, exc; they are about a $100 more than the cheap ones... but have never ever had an issue from them out of well over a dozen gen three installs.
Did I mention I hate electrical issues!

I have an LS6 cam in my 5.3 and really like the power I got out of it, although now I think I should have went a little bigger.....the price was right for it though, at a 150 bux. they are all over on the LS1 websites....
specs on my cam
2002+ LS6 cam
204/218 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.551" / 0.547" int/exh lift
117 LSA

probably could have got one these fairly cheap if I would have searched for it:
GMPP Hot Cam
218/227 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.525" / 0.525" int/exh lift

112 LSA GMPP ASA Cam
226/236 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.525" / 0.525" int/exh lift
110 LSA

here is the 6.0
6.0 LQ9
207/196 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.479" / 0.467" int/exh lift
116 LSA

Damn there are so many options out there for these motors - it is obvious why people like them so much.

Jimmy has recommended the mildest voodoo cam - I think this is it here...

P/N: 60510 Voodoo Hyd Roller Cam - LS1 LS2 262/268
$434.28

vincihighperformance.com call and quiz them. they do all the r&d and dyno testing for crane cams. they specialize in all FI motors. they helped me a bunch on my cam in my 6 liter. first thing first- spend money on valve springs before anything if you plan on running the 6.0 heads. lots of power and reliability lost in the factory springs. factory the springs are good for about 65 lbs. after 20-30K, they are good for about 45-very shitty. good bang for your buck is bolt on aluminum 5.3 heads. good flow, little more compression, and very cheap to pick a pair up. also, a LS1 intake or even a 5.3 gives better top end. 6.0 intakes are good for bottom end. dont want to step on JRs toes, but I am willing to sell my motor. 04 LQ4 with 90K, torque cam and springs, new oil pump, all gaskets, headers, harness, pcm, etc. pm if any interest
