Waggy from what I know. Anything else?

What year(s) waggy should I look for, what it the width? I want a standard D44, not tapered BS, centered diff, common parts.

What about a d44 out of a honda passport/Isuzu trooper?

I think a lot of those have AL D44's in them like grand cherokees.

91 FS wagoneer is where I got mine from.

The only Passport/Rodeo D44s I've seen (admittedly only a handful) have not been aluminum, but they do have some oddball metric hardware. But factory disk brakes might be enough to make it worth the hassle.

I thought I read something about a difference in the carrier that made fitting a locker an issue?

Isuzu 44 is pretty standard other than the axle ends that have the caliper mounts built in. The factory limited slip carrier is high speed with either 4.10's or 4.30!s on it otherwise all dana stuff interchanges. I have one sitting in my driveway. :D

Isuzu Rodeos/Honda Passport, yes. Isuzu Troopers no. Actually the first two years of the Rodeo (91-92?) have a Chevy 10 bolt with drum brakes. If you see drum brakes, it is not a D44.

No Troopers ever had a D44. They all had an Isuzu Corporate 10-bolt (prior to mid-87, or the Isuzu 12-bolt.

I believe that the Rodeos/Passports all came with 4.30 gears.

What about a 6 lug flanged axle dana 60? Jeep trucks had them for a few years. N i know a guy with a ford 9inch with the axles redrilled to six lug its about yota width....

How wide is one? Is it forsale? I would disc whatever I get anyway, so starting with something already done isn't a bad idea....

I have one out of a chevy something or other that I'll sell you. $150.

How wide? Centered? I didn't think Chevy put D44's under the rear of anything, but who knows.

I have the Passport one I'll sell you for $1400. Disc, 4.30 posi. You can drive it home. :hi:

:haha: :fawkdancesmiley:

Looking for something in the 58-60" wide range give or take. Cheap and easy to find parts for, i.e. common. If all goes as planned it will some day get 33 spline shaft etc but for now stock-ish.

I'm currently 5 on 5.5 thinking of 6 on 5.5. More "used" parts availability and a little stronger stud-wise. Plus I have a whole shelf of chevy 6-lug wheel hubs/rotors and big spindles, would have to buy or get some ford ones and a new set of small spindles to get rid of my externals. Cheaper to swap in ford hubs in the short run, but thinking of the future.

Besides, I'm going to be re-gearing, so I either tear apart what I got or just build a new something and sell my current, plus an inch or two wider wouldn't be objectionable. Thinking I can be money ahead building new..

Nissan H233b, 6 lug, common, can get any type of locker you want, come in 4.30's or 4.56's stock, can get 4.88's for realativly cheap, big ring gear, pretty good sized shafts, disc'd stock. Mild steel housing, 3rd member axle.
