No I don't want a turbo, soup bowl only adds noise, dual exhaust is in the works ( but discussion is appreciated), camshaft?

I fully know I am not getting 300 hp and 500 ft pounds out of this engine. If I could squeak out 20-30 more without costing an arm and a leg, I would consider it perfect. All the mods need to keep longevity of engine in mind.

Timing. Add timing. I had one in a work pickup that would get 18 mpg and only get 20k miles out of rear tires. in think you can rotate the injector pump.

Not exactly a power adder but auto or manual? I had a bone stock manual that would walk off and leave an auto Idi with a turned up pump. That was the only thing it would walk off and leave though. :rolf: God I miss that truck.

Re:

This one is an auto. I am not looking to win any races, but do want those elusive 30 ponies.

I do and now I have obtained another project to finish up another project.

I'd reconsider the turbo n turn up the pump.... Best, easiest, and cheapest way to wake up a n/a diesel.
More air plus more fuel equals more power.

Re:

A little fuel and timing will do some. But a turbo is the next step.

Re:

So the cam threads are garbage? How about the difference opening up the exhaust? Worth the time or worthless as well?

Re:

Matt Maier makes over 1000hp with his power stroke and I believe it still has a stock cam. But I realize the PS is a different monster. Fuel and timing will cost you nothing but a little time. Not sure how a cam would work out, I have not heard of anyone trying that on the 7.3

Changing cam is IMHO a losing battle... The engine bore to stroke ratio of the engine likes a certain power band... Changing that will likely be very disappointing...
Plus a used banks "factory" turbo setup for that engine can probably be had for a fair bit less than a custom cam..

Force feed it and forget the little tricks... Not needed

I put a turbo on an 89' stick 350 and bought a 94' factory turbo 7.3 auto and neither would do more that 5 lbs. Boost. Now if you would do the timing, turbo and could get it some more fuel, you might get some where.
