im haveing probblems with my front axle.. when i lock in my hubs and engage the four wheel drive unit i have what sounds like a bindeing noise.. then when i shift out of 4x4 i still have a lesser noise..when i unlock my hubs it usually goes away.. im not sure if only one hub is locking?? or what.. any help would be appreciated...
thanks

Sounds like a broken birfield to me. Try locking just one side or the other and see if you can isolate it.

i jacked the truck up and locked in both hubs shouldnt both front tires spin?? the one on the passenger side barley moved...

If you put the t-case in 4wd then you will have them both spinning opposite directions. I would lock the hubs in 2wd and jack up one front tire at a time and spin the driveline by hand. I'll bet you popped a birfield and you will feel the binding (most likely stop you from turning it) on the side that you need to tear into. I wouldnt drive it around even it 2wd until you find the problem. If a fragment of metal from your axle works its way into the trunion bearing your steering will lock and destroy the bearings.

Toyzuki.. i tried what you suggested and there was no binding.. it was pretty smooth both sides... anyother thoughts???
