I have a 4.3 vortech CFI out of a 94 S-10 Blazer.

It just started running really bad. It idles really rough and throws a code 32. (EGR)

I have researched and found the most likely cause is the CFi injector or the EGR itself. The EGR is 250 dollars and the CFI injector is 350 dollars. I can't afford both.

A little history. Car will run fine for a few days then wnen coming to a stop intermittenly it would start to idle really rough. Then after a few blocks would through a code 32. I would disconnect the batter for 20 seconds it would reset and run good for a month then pull this crap again. Now after the last time it resets the Check Engine light but still runs like **** then sets the code again right away?

I am looking for a positive way to test the EGR on a 4.3 Chevy Vortec or somebody that has had any kind of experience with this issue.

Thanks in Advance.

Pull off the EGR valve, probably got a peice of carbon stuck in the valve. This is a very typical problem. If it is pull out the peice of carbon, and go to the parts store as they make a gasket with a screen in it to prevent it from happening again. Good luck.

I pulled the EGR and voila piece of carbon stuck in it. Cleaned it and blew out the intake orifice and put it back together. Runs like a champ. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Carquest also sells a gasket that has a screen built into it to keep the chunks of carbon from getting into the EGR. The carbon thats breaking off is coming from where the intake/head meets on the passenger side..
