Just put in a new stereo in Kim's runner, all is well less the rear speakers don't work. I used one of those in store wire harness and it had 2 plug-in's to match the factory ones. The bigger one had all the power hook-ups and the front speakers and the smaller one was for the rear speakers. All looked good and matched up but the rear OME harness has one extra wire. I am getting power(sound signal) from the stereo(just tested with an extra speaker. But can't get the signal to the rear speaker from the OME harness. It is right in the middle of the tunnel under the radio. The rears worked with the OME radio. Which was a AM/FM/CD 2 dinn unit. Is that 5th with in the rear harness need to be hooked up for some kind of signal?

Is it a ground? I just cut off the old harness and use the new one that usually comes wit hthe new stereo..much easier.

Not familiar with the 4runner setups but alot of stock stereos have a small amp for the rears or sometimes even one at each speaker and it/they require power to operate.

One of the lines is a power line as skrause said. You are better off running new wires anyway as the stock wires are wimpy thin.
