'99 silverado won't idle ...

I went out yesterday to run to the store in the truck, and it'll start easy enuf, but not idle ... I can drive it as long as I keep revs above 1K.

I got it to the front door of my shop but won't have a chance to look at it till this weekend. I didn't see an codes.

Ran fine last weekend then parked until yesterday.


Any ideas?

it has a reprogrammed ECM (websters garage) ... been running that for years.

I figure this weekend I can swap back to the stock ECM, then see if I get codes or ...

<edit> just remembered ... don;t hava stock unit (websters did an exchange) ,/edit.

hmmm. I have only ran across this when the battery was disconnected--but the ecm learned the IAC withing 5 minutes and the problem would go away. I assume the ses lamp is not on? Sounds like an ecm deal but drop that other one in and see what happens.

Also is it fly by wire?

One thing about the new vortecs--if there is a problem it will flag a code---

If its just at idle its something with the IAC weather it the IAC itself or a control issue with the IAC(pcm)

I'll go pop the hood ... I'll look at the IAC (perhaps a plug came loose?) ...

might also disconn battery for 20 minutes to reset the comp and then afterwards see if I get a code ...

honestly it's hard to tell one thing I HATE about modern engines is even seeing where a friggin spark plug is with all the covers/wires/crap on top is impossible.

I'll do it's twice yearly maint this weekend and inspect stuff really closely. Probably something simple, but finding the "something" just means some underhood time ...
