Just out of curiosity, what kind of pressure is a water jet operating at as it cuts through steel?

This pump generates 60,000 psi, there of course some bigger ones that cut at 90,000+ psi.

We've got 6'x12', 60k psi waterjet. Love the versatility of that machine, but it is a tad slower than our 6k watt lasers. ;D

I'll be cutting my Lexan windshields, aluminum/UHMW skids and tow points on the jet. Shoot me a pm if you have any questions on it.

What kind of pump generates that high a PSI? Gear pump with really good bearings?

Intensifier pump. Basically takes 3500 psi hydraulic pressure and with mechanical advantage (different sizes of pistons) it magnifies it to 60,000psi.
