I recently got a sb 350 and have been looking around for an ac pump to put on it. My question ishow do you convert your ac pump to an air compressor? Has anyone done this on a sb350 ac pump? Will it be the same no matter what ac pump you convert?

I did one on my truck (should showed you while you were up here... )

I had a fitting attached to the outlet side of the AC pump hoses to attach my air fittings, i had it done at the local parts store. Make sure to put a pressure on/off switch in the mix and a pressure relief valve, the bastard will blow your hood off if you do it wrong and it continues to pump! :redneck: Mine is not one of the big bulky york ones, i think the yorks are more durable in the long run, but mine has seen it's fair share of use and abuse (after most runs, it would fill up all my tires and and two other trucks tires one after the other...) I need to put a filter on the inlet side but it seems to not care too much.

The theory will be pretty much the same no matter what, pump-lines-tank-gauges-regulator-switches-etc. but the sizes and way things attach might be different.

i got a stock ac pump for a chev you can have it free of charge if you like worked great when pulled over the summer i sold the truck i was going to use it in so i no longer need it and i am sick of tripping over it i am in everett by the mall

Did you have it hooked up to this motor? Does it need to have the serpintine belt?

Not the motor you got from me, the one in my truck, it has the FULL serpentine setup, the motor you got from me is only a partial serpentine... I'm sure it could be converted but i wouldn't. the belts are costly...

I used an AC/Delco A-6 compressor, put an automatic oiler between the inlet filter and the pump, on the outlet side put a 125# switch. Just goes to a quick connect fitting on my front bumper, I need to plumb in a tank for capacity next. Was nice as it came with all the brackets to mount up to a 350. Not surpentine, though.

Oba

I went shopping at pull a part and got a York f-210r ac compresser and fabbed a mount to the 22RE in my Formula Toyota .. Works great!!!!!! just make sure you at least put a Pressure pop off valve on it or you will blow some stuff up..And don't run some wheenie ass hose directly off the compresser or it will blow out i used some old pressure /steam cleaner line from the comp. to the tank or the air log....:awesomework: Some of my buggy buddys favorite coment is " hey bill can i get some Air" ??? :; :awesomework:

Thanks for the info, How much did your set up cost?
