I used to have a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500. With it, when I turned the ignition off there was a 10 minute or so period where the radio was still on and I could roll the windows up and down without the key in the ignition. This period would end early if I opened the door.

My other car and my wife's car are both the same way.

I've since sold the 2008 and got a 2005 Ram 2500 and it doesn't do this.

Its a mild nuisance but I do roll with my windows down a lot and forget to roll them up before shutting down almost every time as a result. My truck is the only vehicle in the "fleet" that doesn't do this and its a hard habit to break.

Does anyone know anything about this system? Can I somehow retrofit my '05 since the '08 is still considered the same generation truck?

More than likely its a package feature. The body control module stays awake long enough to allow all this to happen then times out and goes to sleep to not kill the batt. No way to make one do it unless you swap EVERYTHING over.

External time delay relay for power window circuit, like for a cooling fan or ? But would be somewhat easy.

Got a link to what you are talking about?

03 and newer hondas are on communication lines and dont have direct power and grounds to the windows, headlights, etc. Body control module controls all that stuff.

Some of the more expensive remote starts have a turbo timer that let the motor run at idle for some amount of time before shutting it off. It wouldn't be difficult to wire that to just leave the accessory on instead of the car running and install an interrupt into the door switch. I'll look into it today. I remember reading a writeup on this on the12volt about a year or so ago.
