Ad Manager/Forum Question

Forum Questions.

Being a simple machines user myself, have you thought about adding the Ad Manager Package to the site. I am sure you can get sponsors to pay to advertise here. I use it, and in a year I have 14 Paying sponsors and that more than covers the cost of the site. I do a lot of the work on my site so cost is low. I see you are using the news option now. Just my 2 cents. My site is www.polarisrangerforum.com and don't think I am trying to get a plug in here. If you look at the top banners that flash up that is Ad Manager. Every time you refresh a new one pops up. I also did some coding and got the clickable banners under my sponsors board. www.tellico4x4.com and www.rubicon4x4.com is the same company they are one of my sponsors. With Ad Management I was able to put there banner on several boards with ease. You might already know this and if so just throw this in the trash. But if you need any help just let me know.

Are you talking about something like Ad Sense from Google, where you let them post up adds around the website and they pay for people clicking on them.

No, I wouldn't do that to my members. Ad Manager is just a application you add to your site. When you get a sponsor they will supply you a banner like 468 x 60 is what I take. Then you go into Ad Management and put the link to where the banner is hosted like photobucket. And then with the correct coding you can make the banner direct members to the sponsors site. It is easy and allows the admin to see how many times the banner has been clicked. That is something you can report back to the sponsors when asking for a renewal. Check my site out. If you see a banner that is not in one of the boards then it is through Ad management.

Cole and I talked a little about this at the Xmas party this weekend. I dont know much about it all personally and I think we will discuss it next week or whenever the "meeting" winds up being. Be aight to get some income to support , upgrade , whatever the site...

Well if you would like I could send my basic sponsor info on what I charge and what they get. I will say that you can make a few thousand or more if you work at it. I only have quality sponsors that pertain to my site. I ask them to give the members a discount, etc. I have had all them renew. One sponsor said his site hasn't seen that many hits till I put his banner up. I can get you guys going in the right direction if you decide to go this way. I do think it would be good for the site. And offers away for the site to pay for some Member Only Group Rides, etc. Let me know if I can be any help.

Then you can charge everyone $20 for a red star so you don't see the banner ads.

We make "club" decisions as a "club" so Ill mention it and we will gauge interest and all that.

Never charge my members a dime. Ad Management is much better than google's crazy Ad's . It is only banners that the Admin picks. So I am thinking most people it wouldn't bother. When I polled my members about it they said they liked them or didn't bother them. Maybe I need to stop polling them. :fish:
