Aftermarket axle tube seals ???

Do the Superior add-on axle tube seals for Wrangler fronts actually help your axle housing or are they unnecessary? The factory axles do not have these but they do have plastic slinger on the shaft at the opening in the housing. I'm thinking you don't need um' but my trusted parts counterman says ya' do ??

I put those mad4wd seals in my tubes simply so massive mud/water doesnt dry in there. Pushing dirt into your seal/center chunk doesnt sund like a good time.
