Air pumps / storage tanks

After slicing a tire this past weekend at gray rock . I have been looking in to building a air tank , and putting an on board air compressor . I noticed that a few rigs this past weekend were running tanks and pumps . But i never got close enough to see what it was or how it was set up . I have been looking at building two 6'' round aluminum tank 1/8'' thick and making it about 24 - 30 inches long and tying them together between my rear frame rails were my fuel tank was located on my jeep .

I have been looking at air pump and I think i know what i want but would like some more input for some one who has done this be for . I am looking at getting a VIAIR 497C pump . It will put out 150 psi at 100 % duty cycle .

this is what i use and it has worked good so far plus i can just move it from one rig to another. well at my a zone i bought the compression with plugs and a storage bag included.

I dont belive teh pump you have will do what im looking to do . How big of a tank did you have it plumed to ? did you run air tools off of it . IT will only do a 33 % duty cycle at 100 psi .

let me know and we may send it to a new home .
