i asked some question about newer SUVs. well we ended up with the 97 lexus LX450.

it looks just like a landcruiser. and i understand it is made by toyota so im hoping someone could help us with our problem...

the fawking alarm sets itself... is there any way to easily disable the alarm? the darn thing goes off constantly. i understand that the alarm is connected to the ECU and if disabled incorrectly it disables the vehicle.

does anyone know exactly what i would need to do to disable it?

check the owners manual, probably some way to change a bunch of stuff like that through opening/closing doors and flipping the ignition on/off in a certain pattern.

According to the computer the lx450 never had an active oem alarm. That means it is aftermarket. Look under the dash for a real small toggle switch and switch it. That should make it "Valet Mode" and make the arming passive.

i sure looks factory to me and the owners manual does mention it so im pretty sure its OEM.

ill look for a switch. thanks Gary

the owners manual talks about a valet key that only opens the door and ignition, wont open tailgate or glove box. the real key will open everything and has the lexus alarm switch device.

the problem is the alarm sets itself even when we turn it off it turns back on.

I'm not sure what model it is but my mannager had his lexus doing the same thing and he had to have the dealer turn it off with there laptop. Now it is armed by turning the drivers door key one way or the other.

does it still arm itself after a door is opened?

my alarm with relock after 2 mins if a door is not opened, it does this incase you acidently hit the button in your pocket and not relize it. I know that I can turn it off with a pattern of stuff like shane said, BUT mine is aftermarket
