so I'm going through the stages of doing everything myself these days, and im having a bit of trouble with my altenator belt, after loosening the belt on the slide im not able to get the altenator to move so i can pull the old belt off. Is there another bolt on a pully or something else i have to loosen too? ive wedged a metal bar in too to try and move it, with no luck. its a 94 toyota 22re. :)

You have to loosen BOTH the slide bolt and the mounting bolt. BTW upon reinstall make sure you have right around 90* rotation on the belt. Overtightening is no - e -beuno.

i suppose the mounting bolt is at the bottom of the altenator? Ive been rankin on it pretty tough, its on there tight, thank you very much for the response, now i feel a little more confident on loosening that one :)

You need to back off both the long tensioner bolt and the nut in the center of the pulley. Back the large nut off about 1 turn and back the tension bolt off till you can get the belt off.

You got the Alt and the P/S mixed up there trashy!:fawkdancesmiley:

Usually I just loosen the top slide bolt, and pull on the belt to loosen it enough to get the belt off....install new belt, tension it; secure the slide bolt, and double check the pivot bolt (mounting bolt)...
