My '05 is throwing some codes that are obviously false alarms. There is a TSB that explains it all to a tee that involves a reflash to resolve permanently. My main issue is that I only have 2 dealers in town and I don't trust them not to **** **** up worse than they are. They have both completely ****ed up every repair we've ever taken to them. Is there an alternative?

We can reflash your computer with our snap on software. I Know it's a hell of a drive but you can stay the night a help with tetnus

Do u have some type of programmer on the truck ? Why I ask is I know from past I have used a smarty programmer and they will send u a stock reflash for ur truck and u can reflash ur truck ur self

Thanks Steve but that is a bit far for me to go.

One issue I was having was that my scanner is apparently broken. It gives me an error message when I try to clear codes. This first happened on the last vehicle I tried to clear. I figured it was just the vehicle or something but when it happened on my truck my suspicions were raised. So I took it to Advance this morning and used their scanner to clear codes and they didn't come back.

The codes were p0071 (ambient air temp) and p0191 (fuel rail pressure sensor). They just popped up the morning after I had driven the truck, they are completely unrelated, and the truck is running fine, so I knew nothing was really wrong. I found a TSB pertaining to them that says that there is an error in the test logic for those and two other sensors and an updated reflash is required to repair the logic test. Now that the codes are gone though I'm just going to let it ride and see if they come back. Maybe sometime when I am out of town I'll stop by a dealership and have them apply the reflash. But I'm not letting the two dealers in my town anywhere near my truck unless I have no other option.
