got a chevy one wire, started it up today and noticed it is putting out 16+ volts. i know that it will fry a battery that high.
checked all wiring and everything is as its supposed to be
is the alternator fried?

i am a ford man, so can you change out the reg. on a chevy alternator or are you as well off to get another alternator?

Take it to B'ham Starter and Alternator and let Bill check it out for ya. thumb.gif

went and got a new one and same thing, putting out right at 17 volts. any ideas?
has anyone ever heard of a voltage gauge going bad? i haven't put a meter on it yet, but that option just popped up
