For over 57 years, a broadcast originating in Chicago and reaching over 24 million listeners daily began with, "Hello Americans!" in what was called "the booming voice of the midwest." Paul Harvey ran the longest radio show in history, and in my opinion was one of the most recognizable voices of America. He passed away on Saturday in Phoeniz.
His conservative, simple view of life and current news, NPR broadcasts, coffee, the newspaper, and breakfast were a morning ritual as I was growing up, and one I continue today.
