On the scale of don't give a f#ck to giving three f#cks plus one......how anal retentive are you?

I have some acquaintances that have every nut and bolt in its bin and labeled and dusted twice a week. And then theres me. When I care about something, I will take decent care of it. But, if I am not vested, I could care less of condition, cleanliness, serviceability, etc.

Ex - Guns. Guns have been a tool to keep me safe and/or provide for my family. I am not 100% on them, but take extra special care to know they are clean and shoot true.
Ex2 - Ford F-250 Its the company work truck. I do maintenance, fix **** when its broken and do some PM's when I think about it. It is dirty, it has dents and dings and I could care less.

Where do you fit?

Also.....I do try and take care of other peoples stuff way better than my own. I borrowed a wrench from JohnG one day. Almost handed it back with grease on it, thought better and cleaned it up to its original condition.

Stuff I work on, shop organization, tool box, has to be spot on. Socks and underwear, not mated, all piled in the same drawer on top of each other, don't care. Wife moves bandaids and neosporin around in the bathroom drawers, drives me crazy.

She moved in 2 years and 2 months ago, rearranged the kitchen, I STILL go to the same drawer where forks spoons used to be looking for one, knowing damn good and well they aren't there. :dunno:

Not so much of a clean freak, but things have a place and should be there. 14mm socket can have some grease on it, but it better be in it's place on the socket rack.

Tool box and contents of the kitchen cabinets. **** out of place in either drives me crazy.

You mean the Snap-on or the 40x40 concrete floor toolbox? :flipoff1:

I'm a 10 on the toolbox, 9 on my bookshelf, and about a 5 on everything else.

Unfortunately, working out of a 2 car garage has it's limitations. One of which being I have more tools than I really have room for. Most things have a place but some of my tools are gypsies. If they can find a spot to chill then that's where they'll stay for a while but I have no problem displacing them for something more important. Also, I let **** lay around a lot. Not because I don't like stuff somewhat organized but being in a state of perpetual wrenching, if I'm in the garage I'm working, not cleaning unless it gets too bad. Ain't nobody got time fo dat!

I didn't say I'm anal about putting stuff up. Just anal about where it goes once it's put up.

Re:

I go crazy if I can't find a socket or wrench missing from the set. I will stop whatever I'm doing and track down a socket or wrench missing from a set. My work bench is usually cluttered but my boxes are organized. Like others its a smaller shop and I always have multiple builds going on so it's hard to keep every tool in a certain spot.

^^^^^^ Everything has a place and everything should be in it.

Im not sure where I fall. Unfortunately probably above five. It really just depends on what it is.
Yep, I'd give you maybe a six. Not crazy, but definitely in order.

Ex 1 - My rig: 4 - I'll hit all the major nuts and bolts before a trip and give it a hotlap around the field. If nothing seems out of place, on the trailer she goes. Might even check the oil as well if I'm feelin froggy. I don't tear anything down unless I know something is broken or out of place.

Ex 2 - Work: 8 - Trade shows and corporate events are controlled chaos. I don't expect everything to go completely smooth, but expect it to run efficiently. I have a lot of CYA materials that I keep fairly organized in job folders and 3 ring binders that are all divided into categories so if someone F's up or there is an issue, I can easily find the needed documentation. I'd put it at a 10, but my email inbox is a disaster and so is my desk, but I know where everything is. laughing1 This does spill over into weekends though: we were recently at a new park and someone broke on a one way trail. All of a sudden we see about 6 rigs coming at us and nowhere to turn around. Drove my OCD up a ****ing wall listening to everyone come up with a gameplan on how to get everyone off the trail or even what to do in general. Mr. LL Bean that started complaining about not everyone having a CB in their rig about got my Ariat shoved up his ass.

This may be a seperate issue but i can't stand even the thought of multiple builds going on in my shop, that would stress me out SO bad.

I'm pretty retentive. Id say a 7-8 all the time until I have a project in the garage. For whatever reason, I leave all of my tools out on my roll cart, bench, seats of my rig until the next project comes up.

Then in between those times I will go out to grab a screwdriver or a pair of pliers and yell **** out loud when I can't find them. Though I still don't change my habit. Lol

Everywhere else I'm retentive enough that people I work with call me syndrome. They ask if I have popped my pills that day.

Mainly I like to have all my ducks in a row when I work. My tools are all organized and easy to access. My work area has to be clear. I need easy access to a power poll no matter where I'm working. I need all my keys for the cars I'm working as soon as I start the day. I have to do them in a certain order. Lol

I'm absolutely nuts about removing shoes before you come in the house. I flip out if I catch you wearing shoes. I'm crazy about it.
