Yeah, there's an origonal line...

So, the Son and I started working on trasferring some things from Goat, White 90 Cherokee, to InvisoHeep, Camoflage 90 Cherokee.

First thing to change over were the tires and rims. This was the main reason we yanked that sucker home. New tires that don't slip, as my Son mentioned that the Toyos slipped like they were on ice, all the time.

The change in tires also increased the ground clearance about 3 inches. Maybe he won't hit those rocks on the powerline trail anymore... But they do rub a bt on the hard turns. Lift kit on the way. Dang, he needs to get a job.

Next thing we did was change out the lame head lights that InvisoHeep came with. Bad news, one of Goat's head lights was bad. Off to the parts store for new head lights and side maker lights as well.

Rig needs to be street legal as it is his DD.

Went to change the rear lens and found one was broken, but even more fun, the lower bolt holding the taillight on was beneath the level of the bumper. Due to weather, I really didn't want to try and dig in there to figure the easy way to get that off. Son will have to find a new rear lense for this before I even want to think I, um, he has to drop a bumper to get to it.

Nice thing is, Goat has plenty of room to put the parts we aren't using.

The big project will be changing Goat's solid engine for InvisoHeep's leaker.

That and trying to figure out a lift kit that has yet to be bought.

Did I mention son needs to get a job?

The engine in Goat has about 50K less on it. Doing a swap is faster, I think, than doing a full rebuild.

We can always rebuild InvisoHeep's engine and keep it as a spare.

Got a question.

What is the easiest, and cheapest way to prevent tire rub? The tires we put on InvisoHeep rub on hard turns. No, we don't want to put the old tires back on.

Yes we are going to put a lift on it some day, but until then...

Yes, trying to get pictures because everyone knows, if you don't post pictures with your build, you might as well just push the thing over a cliff...

cut the inner fenders out. that's what we just did to my truck. clears 39.5's with aobut 4-5 inches of lift on the yota. just barely touches at full lock and stuffed tire. pics in the link in my signature. we just riveted some aluminum into the fender, cause at the time we didn't have access to a mig welder to weld sheetmetal back in.

I suppose I'm looking for something more like a bolt on application. Or a bolt off.

Not really able to do body mods at this time. No welder, no way to cut and attach metal. Waiting on the son to take some classes after he gets the program he's on completed. :awesomework:

I'm more of a "Wow! You can do that with a welder!" kind of a person.

Yes, I heard a line from a show that was showing a wheeling comp back east. Line was "If you can't fix it, don't bring it!" As they show a guy welding his steering arm back together while on the trail.

But I don't know how to weld, and I may be too old to learn. :looser:

wheel spacers on all 4 corners. not to cheap and it will make the tires stick out more but you wont have to much of an issue with rubbing.

sounds like that your draglink is to short to make a full right turn! Does this thing have any lift at all???? you out them on all 4 corners so your truck doesn't look mexi style!!! So all four stick out the same:awesomework: instead of the ghetto fab lowrider look:puke:

Honestly I would suggest doing some research obviously you are either on a budget are dont want to test your abilities! but you have some problems that need to be addressed!! the fact that is only rubs one way is not right and you should fix that! I know cherokee are reknown for there draglinks being to short with any amount of lift it seems

So whats wrong with the Ghetto Fab look? We live close to Monroe, so he'll fit in.... J/K

No lift. Putting on slightly larger tires, about 2 inches taller than what was first on, is the first thing we've done.

Definately on a budget. You did read the part where Son needs to get a job, right? It is his Jeep, after all.

A lift is planned, so it looks like adding a draglink is part of the lift.

Tire progression: Came with 235/75R15 No rubbing
Son caught a nail in the side. One tire trashed
Bought a full set from FiFo (Thanks again) that were 215/75R15 No rubbing, Duh.
Bought Goat: 30's -15 We put one of the 235 up against the 30's. About 2 inches difference.

Cascade_Crawler. Funny, real funny.... Why don't you go do 50/50 with your Jeep.... Son doesn't do that many hard turns unless he's in a parking lot

Damn, that wasn't nice of me, was it?
