Yeah XRRA didnt happen between Gray Rock and Finals and Finals consisted of giving Shannon the checker flag to drive around with.

Funny....I was in that picture.....

i hate it, but they are shitting on him... he is a phenominal photographer and they are treating him like dirt because he is young... my dad always said to me when i was a kid and i would do work for him that if i worked like a man, he would pay me like a man... i guarandamntee you if he was 30 they wouldnt **** him around like they do... besides, it takes 7-8 months to get an event in the book anyways... they are hurting his professional career more than they help him... i think he should just freelance like every other jouralist in america and possibly get a staff position somewheres...

ricky do what is best for you, only you can make these decisions, but remember the key to success is to be good at what you do and KNOW that you are good at what you do.... find someone who appreciates your talent, not just abuses it...

X2, maybe he will listen to Jimmy the wise one because he will not listen to any of us. If not, just cuss him next time you see him :flipoff1:

Ricky what all have you sent in and were you supposed to have any thing out in this magazine. I remember one of the XRRA events we went to was you taking pics for you.

Guys the mag sucks about being on time, but I don't see how CRAWL is hurting Ricky's career right now. Five years down the road when Ricky is going for a job at a news paper company, another magazine, any thing to do with what he does then the people there are going to look at the quality of pictures, his writing skills, and over all appearance of the magazine that his work is published in. They wont hold him accountable for the managerial side of a magazines rise or fall. Face the facts Ricky's work is being published in a major magazine and no one is going to take that lightly.

The other side of Ricky is he started college. He is busier now than he has ever been with school and he has not been going on as many ridding trips as before. Also if Ricky did go on all of these ridding trips and posted is pics up for sale how many of you have bought pics from him for every ride you have been on with him. That is what it is going to take for him to be able to make it out freelancing things. Every time he post up pictures most you guys want him to give you a deal on them. Make group packages and not pay him the money he needs to make it out there. To get his free lance business where it needs to be he needs to market more. To market more means he has to take time away from school which he can't do.

Bottom line is when he goes in for the interview with a good job the people there will be impressed that a college kid has had his work published in a major magazine.

And Woodlee flys through with the Bitch slap... :flipoff1:

Could not have said it better myself.

i got a 30x40 RB print of the taco hangin on the wall of my mobile mnsion...
damn thing cost more than my bumper pull payment... :flipoff1:

Dont mind a bit tho... RB does good work, and you get what you pay for...

i get what you are saying woodlee, but think about yourself as an example... you have mad skills and lets just say you worked at OCC and they kept you in the back doing production work... now you did work for them, but you have the skills that should be on tv but they are not because they have enough people doing that, so years down the road is it more beneficial that you "worked" for OCC or that you worked for OCC and were in the show "American Chopper"... either way is impressive, but his age as well as yours should not dictate his professional treatment....

besides if CRAWL goes under, they will be has beens, nobody will give a **** about them, i think a position w/ petersen's, off road, or any other main steam media will be more benefial in the long run....

I disagree.

In your example---If Adam did pimp **** at OCC or whatever, he should had pics to prove it. Plus it's apples an oranges---ricky is no production photographer--his stuff is in the spotlight, mainstream, etc. Decent example but just because you don't wear you hat like I do I will disagree :flipoff1:

When a potential employer asks to see Ricky's portfolio----a stack of magazines IS impressive. Whether you or anyone thinks Crawl will be around when Ricky gets outta school and huntin for a job doesnt matter---that doesnt reflect on Ricky at all---his work sells itself, and the fact that while he was in high school he had articles published and was a paid staffer for a national magazine says ALOT.

Funny though, Ricky take this thread as ALOT of your friends care about your future.

i will agree w/ a slight apples to oranges, but how many cover shots does ricky have??? how many rigs has he shot that should have been??? i know fat girl should have been on the cover as well as ubkon... you know it, i know it, crawl knows it... they just didnt want to pony up the cash... they discriminate because of his age, and that pisses me off for him...

i agree with Jimmy ??? i think they have givin Ricky the shaft. I don't think its going to hurt his future, but would be better for Ricky in a mag that comes out on a regular basis. Monthly not every six months

I just think it is odd that there are no pics or stories from RB in "their biggest issue". This thing has to cover a span of all the way back to early Summer as we have not gotten anything from them since then. There have been issues in the past where RB had all the stories and pics worth a crap in the mag. I think RB is a great photographer, the point of this thread originally is not what you guys turned it into. It was merely a statement that RB is not taken care of by CRAWL and they treat him like crap because of his age. Anybody the knows him or the situation cannot argue that point. They may be turning it around, but for most of this year he has been jerked around.

I'm pretty sure they pick the ever living **** out of pictures that go on the cover. Might be some bias going on I'm not saying that's invalid---BUT... the guys taking the cover shots know exactly what they want out of a cover shot---and the ones deciding which make the cut. They don't use action shots--which is where Ricky shines. They will pick apart a pic for any of the following: lighting, shadow, foreground objects, background objects, rig placement, focus, distortion, graininess... I'm sure there's more. Look at UBKON article--it's great but pic has slight grain.

I'd love to see action shots on the front. That would be bad-ass.
