Ok so the new motor is nearly assembled now and almost ready to go in - however over the weekend I had several folks tell that running propane with aluminium heads is not a good idea. Again I don't know a damn thing about propane but what I am being told is that it basically destroys the heads and that I really need to be running cast heads.

Is there any fact to this at all???

Thanks

I've heard that rumor and I've heard people who know a lot about propane say it isn't true. If anything it probably has to do with the slightly higher combustion chamber temps of propane but I dont' think there's a big enough difference to melt aluminum where gas wouldn't.

Call Precision sale and services in Birmingham. I think it is 205 591 2266 if not I have his cell # at home. Call me if that ain't right. He is the propane guru.

Thanks for the replies guys - screw it I am just going to suck it up and get a Mass-Flow system form Jimmy. This motor has kicked my ass and and I am tired of it already! :****:

sounds like bs to me. my motor has an aluminum head and i haven't had a problem.
