I had a 13:1 358 in my buggy on pane ad had to prime it everytime I started it, I just put a new blue print engines 383 stroker 10:1 in my buggy and when it's warm it fires right up no priming needed but it just cranks and cranks cold, well if I hook a vacume line to the base plate of the carb and the vaporizer and prime it , fires right up... But runs weird , how do I set this up so it primes properly or starts cold? If I don't have vaccum line and push primer button nothing happens , it's like its dead locked... You can't hear pane purging when pushing the spring loaded button on top of vaporizer :dunno:

If I understand you correctly, you ran a hose from the vaporizer to the base plate and then depressed the primer. When you do that it shoots vapor straight into the manifold and primes the engine. But if left connected that way it continues to send extra unmetered fuel into the engine and it is going to make it run rich.
It will alter the vacuum signal going to the air valve and make it not open properly.

We have a "start" valve that can be installed into the side of the vaporizer to basically do the same thing you discovered to start your engine. Usually it is wired to the starter circuit so whenever you engage the starter it opens and allows vapor to flow to prime the engine. When the starter disengages the valve closes off and stops the flow of fuel. The valve costs $14.00 and we have plenty of them. We use them alot on large engines or ones with big cams.

Ya that's exactly what happening, so I unhooked it again, starts great after
It's warmed up it's just cold starts

On my 408 11 to 1 compression it always takes a min to start when cold. Hit the starter for 30-45 sec let off and hit it again it would fire up. Then once warm just hit the button and it fired right up. I just figured the motor had to make some heat and vacuum to start the propane. I know this don't help but sounds like yours is doing the same thing.

I bought a crate motor already built
From jegs , had it in 3 days and it was 10:1, it purrs like a kitten now I figured a trick out for cold start today: push primer/ purge down while cold
Cranking and it fires right up! The 358 I had was a dirt mod motor, really high strung either on or off, this 383 has a ton of torque and has smooth useable power through the entire throttle makin it a lot easier to
Drive thus far, I'm takin it to Rausch creek Saturday to mild wheel. And break the motor in, from the two laps around my yard I love it so far
