Not sure we're to start this..

Long story short I purchases a used Hooper trailer 7x20.

I picked it up in a hurry after taking a gander at it for 5 min, ther were a few small thing that needed attention like tires some minor welding and decking.

Hauled ass home and it pulled straight like any other trailer I've owned.

Finally got around to pulling the decking off and first thing i noticed was the axels or cross members were out of square a decent amount and also noticed the rear axel tube was bent up, not a big deal. that was fixed with a logging chain and bottle jack.

So at this point I'm pulling a tape measure all over this thing. The main frame is out of square by 5". The front axel hangers were out by 2" the cross members were out by 5" also....I'm kind lost at this point. How in the world does this thing even pull in the same lane???

Only thing I can come up with is all the out of squarness cancels itself out in some sorta **** ed up way.

In my head I'm thinking it's been wrecked and fukfab back togeather.
All the welds on the whole trailer are consistent (same pattern) witch makes me think this might have been done by hooper?

My guess is someone backed into something really hard with one of the rear corners. Whoever repaired it probably figured it'd be easier to just shift the axles a bit rather than trying to move the frame. But hey, if it works it works.

You just made the axle worthless they are supposed to be arched! Trailer manufacturers aren't real worried about perfection more of how many units they can get built to sell!

Arched and bent are to seperate things. I would say 4 inch bend. Also forgot to mention these are drop axels. I'm not looking for a perfect trailer it just apears the trailer was built on a Friday after lunch.

I just tore my 2009 trailer down sand blasted and painted this weekend. I got it from a friend when it was a year old. It has never been wrecked and the axels probably have 3'' of camber in them.

Man....Im in the same boat right now, except you know who made your trailer to begin with. :wtflol: Traded for a cheap one a while back and been fighting it ever since. Out of square, pulls like a wacky wavy inflatable tube man at the car dealership, needs alot of welding and some "adjusting". I got aggravated with it and dragged it to my friends and told him to make it work :dblthumb:

I thought axles were suppose to be arched to create "toe" when it's being pulled so it runs straight.

Re:

Well see what happens after I put a load on it..it might be a different story. But like many have said if it not eating tires then run the **** out of it

axles are always arched up. So if you put a lot of weight on it you'll be wearing the inside of your tires now. You must have bad luck, every dam thing you've got, buggy, motors, trailer ect there's a issue

Re:

The 7k axles on my 34' are arched up at least 4" in the middle. It's open center deck, so the axles are very visible/obvious

From the little a read 3.5k axels and down are produced this way???
But I have two 5.2k brake axels that I thought about tthowing under it.
Only problem is their not wide enough? Any problems citing in half and throw some riding at them

I feel like you aren't grasping the alignment issues? If you add tube to the middle of an arch how do you plan to keep the camber correct with an assuming straight piece of tubing?

Re:

Naw man I got dang freight bender.
And after I'll take my paw paws tractors and rut Dat **** over.

The 5.2k axels are straight. According to my glass eye..
