I don't even mind buying one at this point since it's only $35, but all I can find are mail order places and I don't want to wait for it to ship from across the country.

Or, is there somewhere locally that might have one in stock? I don't normally shop for specialty tools and don't even know who to call.

You can get them on any of the tool trucks.

I've called just about every retailer I can think of and it looks like that's what I'm down to. I'll just have to flag down the next truck I see. I'll be out in my work truck all day tomorrow, so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

You really don't need it. Just unbolt the tensioner when you are doing the belt. Throw it in a vise and re-compress it and throw a small allen wrench through the hole. Bolt it back in with the new belt in place and pull the allen wrench.

I was under the impression that you have to pull the a/c compressor and a bunch of other junk off to get the tensioner off, right?

I'm not even changing the belt - it's almost new. I'm replacing the sheared woodruff key in the crank snout so I'd prefer to leave as much of the rest alone as possible.

Yeah you have to move the ac compressor to get to the two bolts for it. It's not too bad to unbolt it and just move it a bit without unhooking the lines. Also if you aren't removing the belt first then I don't think the snap-on tool will work for you

Oh. :hmm:

Well I guess I'll start tearing into it and see where I get. For some reason I got the impression it was "way easier" to have the tool than to do it without. Thanks.
