I've been tinkering with this thing almost non stop this week. Frame is a Monark Silver King cruiser from the late 40's. The rest of it is parts ranging from the early 70's till now. Rides like any newer bike now that I've gotten the bugs worked out. Well, except the brakes, they still suck. It's a touch heavy for an XC type ride, but it still climbs surprisingly well.

I have my "Hoopty" ride. It's an ex-bmx race bike, i got it from a kid going into college when i was 7 or 8 (23 now) it is a teardrop frame, chrome, I think i might try and strip it down to it's original chrome as i went through a spray paint phase and covered it with black and now desert sand. i am not expecting it to return to it's original shine though from what i have heard of painting over chrome, it cracked the top tube from the seat post a few years back from jumping it, but i say it's at least a late 80's bike, i'm still not sure what brand it is, i have never seen another bike with the same style frame as this one...:eeek: I'll get pics later..

I got a 65-67 Sears Cosmo, no pics its been in mid-restoration for about 5 years, restored a Sting Ray Before that a Lemon Peeler. Been a while was thinkin bout startin a stingray agaain and finishing my sears

A touch heavy? I'll bet ....

I haven't weighed it yet, but it's probably only got 6-7 pounds on my BMX bike, which weighs in a 29.5. It's got it in all the wrong places though. Like the wheels, steel rims suck ass. Might be getting a half dead Giant Boulder to rob parts from. Not the best rig either, but at least the rims are aluminum, and it's free. That'd give me good trued wheels, tires that aren't on the verge of splitting at every place possible and I might be able to make the brakes work on this with a little brazing.

Sounds like a cool project. Hope you make it work out the way you want. It's always fun to try, even if it doesn't happen. I've been tinkering with bikes for ... gosh, 30+ years. Damn, I'm old!

It's had a little more work done now. Different forks, better front wheel and tires. Trying to fight the urge to spend the money on a new rear wheel.

My cousin has an original swing bike he's had sense it was new I would love to get it from him and do a full restore on it!

This is not his bike I'm just posting it for for the pic
