Thinking about trading my 44's for a set of tlb's. With chromos, would that be too much tire for a dana 60? Anyone ran them on tons?

I know Gary Smith busted chromo 60s everytime he went out... but he hasn't had much more luck with rocks, but that is probably more his "style" than anything

I know Charlie (fordcontraption) busts em all the time on his douche and a halves. I also don't really beat on my **** senselessly to saying Charlie does but I strategize my path and plan. I'm not a bouncer by any mean. I'm a crawler. My rig will also be pretty light. Not all the excess bouncer style tubing in my chassis. 5.3/th400 bla bla bla.

Big diff in weight. A 44 tsl is roughly 130 lbs per tire without wheel and a 47ltb is around 175. Then also depends on rim size and make as to how much it will add to the total weight. I have broken a few stock shafts in my rear steer rockwell with 47s. My front holds up fine. But my GVW is pretty heavy.

Forgot to ad that one of my wheeling buddies runs a Blue Torch chassis on tons and 47s. He has RCVs. ...beats the crap outta it. Never seen him break a shaft but he has broken a few ring and pinions.

Never broke my HP60,

Tim broke one rcv stub. . . . He had all the weight of the rig on that one corner though!

47 ltb's aren't a crawling tire they are hard ass rubber and you will have to spin them to make it up anything! On a different nite Shane Keller's old green buggy had deep paddle cut ltbs and 9" axles! Never saw him break anything with a built ass race motor!

Agree. 47 LTB sucks for crawling traction, the size and tread pattern are really cool, but they just don't work like you think they should.

So would my 44's be better for crawling. I've always ran tsl's on everything. I read several things on the Internet that said they were softer than tsl's. Is that not accurate? I saw a rig at harlan with uni of portals and 47's make it up your turn like it was nothing. What's the strengths of an ltb over a tsl and visa versa?

They are a harder compound than tsl's a 44 pitbulls would be a better choice if you want a bigger tire and will be crawling they do however have softer sidewalls and cut sometimes my dads buggy weighs 5800# and has cut a sidewall 5-6 times but we try to drive it like a bouncer a lot!

Yes, I had some 47's for a minute (5+ years ago), they sucked on just about everything, except mud. Even grooved them, still were horrible. Ended up trading them for a set of 44 TSL's.

I've ran both. ..my 44 tsls were softer and prolly better for all around crawling. That being said I run the 47s at the moment ...with my long wheel base the height helps me out. I do find I run at lower pressures than my 44s to get the tire to flex...and now that they are about 60% tread they work better. New they are stiff and would def recommend grooving them.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll keep my 44's then until I get rich and not famous and can afford set of 43 stickies.

Funny this is on here. Just today I was talking to a friend about how I never see LTBs. I damn near clicked to buy a set of 40s at one point but was concerned that no one I know has seen them in action.

I've got a set and they do kinda suck ass on some stuff. I cut mine like tsls and they do some better but when you get the air down on em and they bite shits gonna break :****:
I've got the 40's and like you said when they bite, **** breaks, took out a hp60 inner/outer last time out
