ATM Skimming

I had heard of this, but I had not seen how it is done. This PDF is directed at the banks and how they can protect themselves, but is an eye opener to those that use ATMs. Will not affect me as I have not used an ATM in 25 years.

This is worth the couple of minutes of your time.

holy ****. when laid off I get my unemployment via debit card now. Only way they'll let you. I have to ATM it to put it in the bank where my bills come out. That'd suck if that were taken

i never use an atm... i always get cash back at the grocery store if i need cash.

even then you're putting your PIN on their system. If it get hacked, they have your card number and PIN. done. That just happened to my father in law from the grocery store and to my other paypal debit card (card from my bank, I put my paypal funds in there to insulate from my other accounts). Don't PIN it anywhere unless you HAVE to. Mom works at a bank, assistant branch manager. Stuff goes around all the time. She says press cancel when it asks for your PIN, push credit, cashier has to say OK, you sign, no PIN on system.

I agree I use credit, My credit card number was stole about a year ago and web site design and a bunch of tee shirts were charged on it. The fraud department contacted me right away and card was canceled . They caught the guy that did it.
