i have a couple different choices for axles i have a 14 bolt rear i can use but the front axle i have a dana 60 but its a driver side diferential i have a 205 out of a chevy and have heard if i get a 205 out of a ford i can swap out internals from the chevy because they are stronger and put them in the ford 205. would it just be easier and better to get a dana 60 out of an early chevy istead. or what alxe combo are you running or sugguesting im just a 20 year old kid dont as much as most people on here

Assuming that the driver drop 60 is a ford HP, I would keep it because it is stronger than a LP chevy. Also the ford 205 has the larger 32 spline front output but the chevy case can be upgraded to match. What transmission are you using?

You got the tcase stuff backwards.

Ford 205s have 32 spline outputs front and rear. People swap the Ford front output into Chevy cases.

Running a HP60 Ford front axle and a Ford NP205 will be the strongest setup.

Sorry, this is kind of a thread derail but will the Ford 205 outputs swap into a dodge divorced 205?

did a little more digging i can run a th400 and find a driver side drop transfer case out of a 88 or 89 chevy that had a 205 in it that would drop on the driver side with no adapter kits needed so i can run a hp60 to chevy 205 to th400 back to my 6.0 only needing a flexplate from advance adapters i have both a kingpin axle and a ball joint axle leaning more toward king pin with chromoly shafts but still undecided on the axles

As far as I know chevrolet never made a drive drop 205. They went to Np208 in the 80's and later 241. If you have a round pattern ford 205 you can use the chevy th400 to 205 adapter and make the ford 205 work with all a little grinding. You will have to swap input shafts in the ford 205 from a 31 (ford) spline to a 32 (chevy) spline input..

??? why not king pin

No need for high steer on the ball joint knuckles with standard wheel hubs (pre Super Duty axles)

Knuckles and Cs hold up real well

I guess if you were going to buy nice aftermarket king pin knuckles/Cs/hi steer that would be better, but stock vs stock I'd rather have a mid 90s bj axle
