I have been running yukons since day one. I kept breaking them so I steped up to the super joints. I'm not breaking the joint, but keep breaking the ears. So I said to my self, self forget Yukon and go with something else. I want the Booby longs , but I went with Alloy shafts and Long universal joints. Sooo anyone have any experience running them on here?

I haven't got the stubs yet , there on back order. Your wrong you wheel way harder than I do, plus your running on the 44's. I just haven't had very good luck with axle shafts. I have been through about four sets within the last three years.

I have been around two of those weird Alloy USA stub failures. They break clean right where the shaft comes out of the ears. Clean break.

That said, I punished my Alloy USA/CTM combo on my last rig and had no problems. I was so satisfied, I used them again. That said, I did order a spare stub shaft in case I have a bad-luch stub.

They say that was a batch that were formed wrong. I don't know.

ON my last rig, I broke 3 yukon axles in one day. 2 stubs and an inner. CTM survived all.

If I were to rank them from what I have witnessed I would say :

CTM 300 M
Longfield CV
Superior
Alloy
Yukon
Spicer

I would say the Long 300m Ujoints are every bit as strong as the CTMs too. I have not heard of one breaking yet.

I am running Alloy USA stubs on my 60. I have not had any issues. I would run stock fronts before I would run Yukons.
Don't forget I have Yukon fronts on 44's and the only one I have broken so far was a result from some other problems not related to the shaft itself.

The thing that turns me off of the Alloy's is that I have heard that for the Ford 60's you have to grind the **** out of the axles to clear. I don't really want to have to do that on new axles that are $575 for a complete set. I wonder if they have solved their clearance issues? I broke a yukon stub but it was because I had a previous bearing failure that ate up material on the shaft, the next trip out the shaft blew. I know it is cool to hate on yukon, but I have never seen a ton of first hand failures with them

Yeah that cannot be blamed on the shafts. I have never seen 30 spline shafts hold up in the rear of a moderate sized rig. If you had a 35 spline 60 you would not have that problem

Yukons are pretty good shafts for the money but I know the superiors are better. Brian Cole is on his third or fourth ring and pinion and the superiors have been good to him except for one of the inners has twisted just a little. The package deal for the yukons and supper joints is smokin for most of the wheelers out there though.

I talked with the Alloy USA guys a bit when I worked for 4x4RockShop and they did say they had some QA issues in the begining and assured us they had sorted out the problem. They were also AWESOME about warranting stuff. Im talking ship out the shaft up front to you before yours even hit their door , dont know if that was because of the business relationship Mike had with them or what but I say them do it more than once while I was there and that was impressive to me.

Im on the Yukon / Longfield u joint setup personally... we will see. Ive done Yukons and CTM's in a D44 and broke both , I had good luck with the Yukon outters and stock u joints in the Turd. I agree with Kelly... I favor my frontend and try not to abuse the joints and shafts so Brad your outta my league on abusive driving
