Axle splining

Who narrows/resplines axles on the eastside or around here? I was thinking if it's cheap enough, I dont know what it'd cost to have a couple fullsize D44 axles cut down for spares....maybe send them to Mr. Long and have them treated... :corn:

I heard of a place called Dutchman Gear, someone told me they do narrowing and resplining. Its like 35 bucks an shaft. Also contact S&N Fab for a hook up on this topic. They know a lot of people.

Dutchman is down by the Portland Airport, their pricelist shows $90 a pair. Their website is here: http://www.dutchmanms.com/index.html

In my mind, even if they are a little cheaper, one of the other places will be better, shipping probably would kill any savings.

Ya, basically I want either a spare shaft for both sides, inner long side is a 80's waggy and the short side inner is a ford f250 HD D44 shaft (the one that came in the axle stock) I'm just thinking that these axles might take a little work to find. so it's sounding like it might just be best to pick up a set of chromo's and use the ones i have now as spares....But i'm still curious as to prices and who does them for future reference. I think tax return will take care of this stuff!!! :stirpot::corn:

what are the length on those shafts?

Another option might be to go through my (or others) pile of "I don't know what these fit, nore were the hell I got them" shafts and see if you can dig up some "factory" spares.... till you spend the $ for cromo's.

(yes, obvious ploy of me cleaning out more piles of crap on unsuspecting victims :redneck
