battery cables? long ones

i need to relocate the battery in my toyota to the bed. anyone have an idea where i can get battery cables that long?

Williams Oil Filter Supply in Tacoma can make any length you want. I have cables from the front to the back of my truck.

I used 600 vot welding cable 2 AWG colman cable from HI-LINE inc. I got it from my father in-law. You can probably get it, or similar cable from Platt, Stoneway, or some other electrical supply house.

Unless you are moving the battery to the tailgate you really don't need them to be all that long. I run a cable from the battery to the starter and a cable off the starter up to a junction stud off of a 3rd gen toyota to power the fuse box. Keeps things clean and neat that way.


Oh, and I run only 2 gauge fine strand welding cable. Short enough length to buy at scrap price from my favorite local recycling yard.

I agree, welding cable. Most farm and homes or a welding shop sell it by the foot.

I have some very nice cable and a commercial crimper and I build custom cables for all kinds of applications.

I also have commercial ground straps and commercial terminals.

I build semitruck quality cables.

I just put two 15,000 lb warns on a toyota (both ends) and put the battery in the bed just as you are thinking about. 1/0 AWG to the winches and 4AWG to the trucks starter and accessories.


Quality cables are a big pet peeve of mine. I used to use Williams till I bought all the tools to do the same quality of cables.

I moved the battery to the trunk of my Cougar and used welding cable purchased at Oxarc, and solder on ends from NAPA with the heavy shrink wrap... Works great

iv got another question. does the cable from the negative post need to go to the engine block or can it just go to frame rail next to where i put the battery?

Toyotas like their grounds. I run extra grounds from the frame to engine and frame to body. The battery gets a nice solid ground to the frame.
