Started to bleed my brakes yesterday and found out that I needed to replace my master cylinder because it was leaking. I bench bleed the master cylinder before I bolted it back on like the instructions say. Tried to bleed my brakes today and I bleed all 4 corners about 3 dozen times. Pressure builds up and there is no air coming out of the bleeder valves. Once I turn the XJ on the brakes go done to the floor. Its not leaking brake fluid anywhere I can see. What is wrong?? Im getting pissed!

What year? ABS or not? Does it have 2 lines going to the back? Can you get a pic of the combo valve? (mine had an extra line I had to open to let the air out)

Start by narrowing it to a corner, or an end. Pinch off soft likes until you get a good firm, extra firm actual, pedal.

It could be your rears are way out of adjustment.

This has been a frequent topic on the Naxja boards, and I have never seen a solution posted. You are screwed.

Seriously though, have you tried starting and pumping the pedal several times? I know on the early XJ's the brake booster sucks. It failed on my 88 and had to be replaced. Check your vacuum line to it.
