bobbing a bed

when you guys bobbed your bed what welder did you use?

im goint to start to weld mine up tomorrow and didnt know which one to use

and did you weld both in and out?

Turn down your amps and wirespeed, MIG
Fluxcore or use some gas one with argon/co2 mix
Spot weld all over the damn place, you dont want the sheet metal to warp...

i have both

gasless fluxcore wirefeed

and

gas 130 mig

im way better with the gas mig but i guess alot of spot welding should be cake

For sheet metal I always use .023 wire. you can really get the heat down with small wire.

X2 I love welding exhaust and sheet metal with my miller 175 and .030 wire, if i really am picky i'll swap the .023 in. :awesomework:

well i did it with the .30 gasless wirefeed basicall a bunch of 1 inch welds took me a long time cuz i didnt want to warp it but the truck wasnt that straight to start with

i took 10 inches out tho

I used a cheap little gasless wirefeed, worked great.

I took 16" out of mine and used a piece of the cut-off to patch a dent.

And your question about welding the inside of the bed. What I did weld a 1" piece every six inches or so. And then used seam sealer for the rest of it. It's way too much welding to try and weld all of it.
