Front output on the tcase that is. Its stock D300 and Im only running 1310's so I kinda had it wink linked to the driveshaft, but as luck will have it the front output broke instead.

Im not upset about it at all, I always had that "intention" of going HD anyway, this break only forces me to do it sooner thumb.gif

Im going to purchase the JB conversions kits shown here
http://www.jbconversions.com/pages/products/dana300/front_out.html

Going to stay with the 1310s right now so I can just reuse the front driveline I have until I scratch up the monies to go 1350 with a smaller stronger pillow block and 2 piece driveline setup that takes a bit more of the angle out of what Im doing now.

I may start pulling the Tcase later tonight, if not tommorow it comes out fo sho, Id like to have this done mid next week at the latest so I dont miss more riding than neccasary. The buggy is performing really well and Im starting to get the little things sorted out. I had a stupid ass gas pedal issue at KOTH as well and the hardcore bounces had the fuse block Im running losing wires from the spade ends popping off of it. Outside of the little time required to resolve those things the front output break ( again expected from day one on this rig ) is all I feel is limiting me at this point.

( OK so I still need beadlocks... but hey if it was all done at once I wouldnt have any reason to go to work every morning ! laughing1 )

Re: Broke Mah shaft

( you like them polished air shocks dont ya... cant hide AirMed ! :flipoff1: )

Guy I work with polished them out for me, said he can do them for 80 bucks a set if anyone is interested. He uses Nu-Vite and steps it out.. mine were amazingly ugly, small scratches , overspray paint and all. He cleaned them up and buffed them out it was amazing watching the process and how good he is at it. Dood does detail work on the side so he's got it down thumb.gif

Dude does badass shine work, your airs looked sweet. Did you happen to add oil when you had them off? If not and you want help with shock tuning I will be more than glad to bring the stuff I have over to add some oil. Just get some shock oil and tell me when.

As you guy if how much to polish aluminum links? 9 of them about 40" long. 1.5 and 1.75" diameter

Ill ask him tommorow.

He did my airs on the rig since it was sitting there. He has a badass little "mini buffer" thats pnuematic. Works really well and he "knows" what speeds he likes with what grit polish and all that stuff. I tried to help and started on one and he was like, dood stop your just making more work for me. laughing1

Awe you've discovered polished aluminum. It looks bad ass huh? Now go buy stock in Mothers. You will use up some Mag and wheel polish keeping them clean and shiny.

Matt I keep talking a big game about polishing my links as well. I just dont want to maintain the shine. Doc Mercers buggy is all polished links and tie rods and looks pimp as hell.

I used to polish bits on my sportbikes, but like you mention... havent bothered to do it to a crawler for maintaining it requires effort. thumb.gif

I polished my aluminum lowers on my old rig it was definitly cool looking. Did it my self. started with a wire brush on the grinder to get um clean then put the buffing wheel on there and I had shiney links in about hour and a half. Then spray them with some clear and they will stay shiney far a while.,

Tcase coming out tonight.. Should be able to take it out of the rear of the chassis , only bummer is Ill have to pull seats and all that interior to get it unbolted from the tranny I think. We will see. I ordered the JB 32spline kit last night so she will be back to ready this week or next if all goes to plan.

Im also going to drop a dab of solder on the spade's that came off the fuse block when I landed hard ( same landing that killed the front output ) and do something to make sure that the gas pedal is never ever an issue again. I need one I can get excited and stop the **** out of. laughing1

Im getting it sorted out, every time it gets better and better.... :woody:

Thank god I got a chevy front end... laughing1 Thanks for the heads up though POPS thats a smokin deal and WILL NOT last. **** Im tempted to buy it and resale, your to cheap on that price man ! hitit

My Tcase is out, it did come out the back of the chassis ( HELLZ YEA ) Hope to hell my shaft kit comes tommorow, if so we will be installing it at work ( dont tell my boss ) and Ill be slappin bitch back in tommorow night ! :woody:

Steering wont be here until Thursday :-\

Dont know on the shaft kit, gonna call JB here in a minute, good news is the shaft broke in the center of the forward most bearing so it didnt damage anything in the gearset at all , just a shaft and the front seal. YES, I'd be hosed if it broke in the center and fawked the gearset up.

So anyway, Im at the hurry up and wait part. Just looking forward to put it back together and be legit on steering and have faith in the front driveline again !

Meh... forums are boring lately, just tryin to drum up some convo :flipoff1:

My shaft isnt shipping until tommorow so I wont see it until Thursday either :-\

They say you have to "machine" the bearing surface on these to make it work, anyone installed a front 32 spl into a D300 ?? Its starting to look like I will be taking it to Wayne at ORC to install. Damn...

I have, and yes you'll have to have the front of the housing bored out for the bigger seal/bearing. Its a simple step, but you'll need a mill for it...

I'm interested to see how this steering set-up "turns" out :flipoff1:

It doesn't take much machining, I had mine done at a local machine shop in a few hours. I thought the same as you, I'd just throw it in when it came in, not quite the case.

no pun

mill and fly cutter or cnc machine. like an hour of work, so assume $75 unless you have a machinist buddy

Keith will exchange it for me for 25... I already looked into it ! loller.gif
