What is the standard width to start with? Been looking at a lot and looks like about 30" outside is a good starting point. Gonna be full width and 40's. 30" to wide or to narrow.
What axle's, what drivetrain ? Narrow axles = need for narrow frame rails so on and so forth. Everything about building chassis is compromise and packaging to fit the drivetrain and suspension desires. Least thats my thoughts. I agree most are in the 30-31" range up front with a V8 and ton's. I like how Trentfab does the frontend of thier chassis as it comes radically to the motor mounts then goes back out. Very nice and well planned.
HP Ford 60 front. 5.3 350 Atlas 14B rear. Lots of TJ with tons and the frame is 33.5 outside on them. Been a while since I been on the bender so the least complacated the better at this point. Atlas is about 14" front center of output to side of case so I need 28 inside to get ti centered. Prob end up with it moved a little pass to get a better angle on the shaft so I can cheat alittle.
I know measurments are trade secrets but I just want a couple opinions before I **** up a bunch of tube.
I think P took notes/measurements for years before he built his and he nailed it pretty damn good for a garage built buggy and minimal fancy boy tools. I bet he didn't mess up one inch of tube either.
