I'm a moron... :looser:

I need help selecting a decent cam for my 305. I mostly run on the low end of the RPM range, but once in a while I get heavy on the throttle.

I did some searching on Summit but there is way to many options for the motor. So I selected the "Offroad/4wd" as the usage in the search and it narrowed it down to 6. Here

The summit ones look like they have a really short RPM range, I don't currently have a Tach on the truck so I'm hesitant to pick one. When it says "Basic Operating RPM Range" does that mean I will run into valvetrain issues if I go above the max RPM they list?

What kind of numbers are you guys running on your cams? Like I said I've never dealt with picking a cam so I'm trying to learn. Please help. :corn:

just go to delta camshaft in tacoma and tell them you want a RV/mild performance cam. unless you want to sound like a dragster, go bigger. otherwise stick with the RV/MP grind. and take a core in with you. shouldnt be more than $50 bucks.:D

Personally I like midrange cams, but I also like the go pedal, a lot.
The comp cams 4x4 cam seems to work pretty dang good in the ford. If you go above the suggested RPM your motor will self destruct. No not really, it just stops making power, but will not do any damage.

Pick a cam company. Read their catalog. They give motor/vehicle combo suggestions for each grind. Pick a few and compare them to your use.
