carb question

It's been a while since wheeling with a carb and I suck at carbs anyway.

Is the carb any good for wheeling?
The carb on it right now is a Holly of some sort on a Edelbrock SP-2P intake, old school.

dude.... thats a carter AFB not a holly so your right you do suck at carbs:haha: :haha: :haha: But actualy as carbs go its not a bad one for a street and trail type rig. like all carbs it wont like extreme angles for any length of time but over all not bad. Keep the floats a little low. and you should be fine. There are a couple of books out there that will tell you how to tune it. I suggest getting one as their a bit complicated.

think the name gave it away? but to clear things up, I have a CJ with a Holley on it right now and this was kind of a surprise when parting out a waggy.

Now that makes a bit more sense:redneck: Out of the box the afb will work better than the holley. That said I run a holley 600 vac sec. on my jeep (well I did) and am quite happy with it. It is however highly modded to work offroad. (spring loaded seats , whistle vents, jet extensions , lowered floats, small jets ect ect) The afb will work great just by dropping the float levels. Just make sure its size matched to your motor. Anything over say 600cfm on a 350 is too much carb for a stock type motor.
