cb mounting

i was wondering where everyone mounted there cb's in jeep tj's.

There are a lot of places to put them but:

DONT put it where it will hurt you in a crash or rollover.

DO put it where you will be able to hear the speaker.

DONT worry too much about trying to eliminate electrical noise by locating it away from other wiring, using special power leads ect. In a jeep (especially a TJ) you will get a ton of noise from the fuel pump no mater what you do. Just turn the squelch up and it wont be a problem.

There are some very nice mounts out there. You can mount on the dash, under the dash, overhead, on the tranny hump and a ton of other ideas. What CB do you have or are looking at? That helps a lot to know what size your talking about.

its a uniden pro510xl. picked it up for free. and where is the best place to mount the antenna. i would like it to be in the front somewhere

Mount the antenna in the back. As you wheel, it'll whip around quite a bit, and it's both a distraction and a potential danger to have it in front. Easiest is to mount on the factory spare tire hanger. Just drill a hole, use bushings, and voila. Leave enough slack for the door to properly open / close.

I mounted mine on my sound bar just to the right of my head. That way Io can see the front of the CB in my rear view mirror and hear the speaker. Don't forget to mount your antenna on a spring like I was told to do and did not..

There is a antenna bracket you can buy from 4WD Hardware or Quadratec that goes behind your taillight.

As to where to put the Cb it is a matter of preferance. Mine is mounted in a overhead console.
